Industry Update

We're focused on 2026!

Industry News

The construction industry continues to face pressures from high material costs, labor shortages, and policy uncertainty. Despite these headwinds, there are signs of cautious optimism heading into 2026, supported by anticipated fiscal stimulus and the potential easing of interest rates.

Construction spending fell 4.7% in 2025 amid investor hesitation, supply chain disruptions, and delayed private-sector decisions. While only a modest rebound is expected in 2026, firms are increasingly exploring alternative delivery methods to offset ongoing challenges.

Year In Review

KBS is proud to reflect on a portfolio of projects in 2025 that showcase both our versatility and the benefit of modular construction. From single-family homes to large-scale multifamily developments, our team successfully delivered a diverse range of complex projects across multiple markets and building types.

KBS completed workforce housing and affordable housing developments that expanded access to quality homes, alongside market-rate multifamily projects to meet the demands of growing communities. We also advanced high-performance building solutions through net-zero projects, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and long-term value.

All our projects were driven by the same principles:

  • Precision Manufacturing
  • Thoughtful Design Collaboration
  • Focus on Quality

Together with our builders, developers, and clients, we transformed ambitious visions into durable, efficient, and livable spaces.

2025 Successful Builds

As we look ahead, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what modular construction can achieve — delivering smarter, faster, and more sustainable building solutions for the year to come.

Design Assist

Residential and multifamily designs for the New England market are defined by a shift toward “warm minimalism,” blending high-functionality, smaller footprints with sustainable, high-end, and deeply textured materials. As the region faces limited supply and high demand, designs emphasize long-term value, energy efficiency, and wellness-focused, “lived-in” luxury that connects with the local landscape.

KBS offers a variety of stock designs that simply the process, reduce cost, and expedite the time to occupancy.

Warm Minimalism features clean lines and uncluttered layouts, but is softened through gentle curves, layered textiles, and organic shapes to avoid a rigid or sterile feel.

Natural, tactile materials
Wood (especially light or mid-tone species), natural stone, linen, wool, and cotton, with handcrafted or subtly imperfect finishes.

Warm, neutral color palettes forge a connection to nature and evoke calmness
Creams, beiges, taupes, soft browns, and clay tones, as well as muted greens or warm grays.

High functionality and intention
Every element serves a purpose. Storage is discreet, layouts are efficient, and furnishings are selected for durability and everyday use—supporting long-term value rather than trends.

Emphasis on wellness and comfort
Natural light, good air quality, acoustic comfort, and ergonomic layouts are integral. The goal is a serene environment that supports mental and physical well-being.
